Practice Manager:  Recommended System Requirements

 

The requirements listed below are the recommended requirements for minimum performance of our software. Please contact our office directly and we will help assess you computer’s capability.

Remote Access Software

You can use Remote Desktop (an application included with your Windows operating system) which should be installed and supported by your qualified hardware dealer.

Printer(s) for Reports

Most laser printers will work well, but we recommend that you select a PCL-Compatible printer. Printing will be smaller with GDI printers.  Multi-function printers (that scan, copy and fax) are generally GDI. We do NOT recommend inkjet printers due to the cost of ink cartridges.  For sites who prefer not to print all reports to paper, Osler will install a “PDF Printer” which creates PDF files for those reports.

Printer(s) for Labels

Dymo Label Printer.

Scanner

Any scanner with the ability to save in PDF format and also handle single or multi-page scans. We strongly recommend Fujitsu Scansnap iX500 scanners because they are small, simple to use, fast.

Anti-Virus Software

Basic anti-virus protection is required (AVG is recommended)

Forms

Referral/Consult Letters

 

Microsoft Word 2010 or later is required if letter and form integration with Practice Manager is desired.

UPS

Uninterrupted Power Supply

We recommend that all clients purchase a UPS to protect their data and allow them to close software appropriately in the event of loss of power. This is NOT a “power bar” but rather a battery backup which provides battery based power for a period of time when a power failure occurs.
